The real reason Ortho kids leave

I read this today in the Jerusalem Post and while I have mixed feelings about Shmuly Boteach as he fails to admit a key factor in kids leaving the fold: hypocrisy. Kids are being taught "do as I say, not as I do" and thus have no role models. He points out that parents leave the religious education to the teachers but there are many instances where the teacher is not a role model either. When a school or a parent emphasizes the importance of modest dress to a child and then the parent or teacher commits an act that is far from modest, what kind of message are we sending our children? It's not okay to wear a skirt that is above the knee but it is okay to commit tax evasion or welfare fraud or arson or child molestation. At some point a child will grow up and eventually read a newspaper or come to his senses and realize the parent/rabbi/teacher/neighbor was not away on a long business trip but in a federal penitentiary. Kids have come to realize that it is better to act like a mensch - pay their taxes follow the laws of land and be upstanding citizens than to wear a skirt below the knee. I also believe that just because a child does not follow the exact rules that were imparted to them by their educators as the proper was to be a religious person does not mean that child has left the fold. It means that child has chosen to practice Judaism as he believes is the right way for him not the way a teacher/rabbi/parent believed was right (as many usually have agendas of what is right and wrong and it's usually my way or the highway). Rabbi Boteach failed to mention that hypocrisy and lack of role models is the real reason children are leaving the fold. A parent can be home all day with the child teaching him Torah but if the parent is not living Torah than everything he is teaching the child is for naught.

As I have said before there is no difference between the morality police in Iran and the modesty patrol in Jerusalem. In 2004, the Iranians stoned to death a 16 year old rape victim. Over the past few years the "modesty patrol" in Jerusalem have been attacking anyone who was deemed to threaten the morality of the community. In their twisted eyes, a threat can be a store owner selling Ipods or a 28 year old single woman talking to someone of the opposite sex.

If we do not hold higher moral standards than our enemies than what's the difference between us and them???

Obama's Disregard for Babies

In 2002 Barack Hussein Obama - herein known as B. Hussein- was the only Democrat in the Illinois Legislature who voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act. The Act states "all children who are born alive are entitled to equal protection under the law regardless of the circumstances surrounding the birth." It basically states that if a baby survives an abortion it is to be treated as a live human being and cared for as such. Obama's excuse for voting against this humane bill was he was protecting a woman's right to choose and he saw this Act as a stepping stone to making abortion illegal. Abortion is a huge issue for Democrats; it is interesting that no other Democrat in the Senate saw this bill in that light and in fact supported it. Once a child is born it is not up to another human being to end that baby's life. I think that's called infanticide. The bill clearly states "it is the intent of the General Assembly to protect a child who is born alive as the result of an induced labor abortion or any other abortion and to ensure that the child receives all medical care necessary to preserve and protect the life, health, and safety of the child."

This has nothing to do with a women's right to choose. Her choice is over after the abortion failed. Once the baby is born alive it is up to no woman, man or Senator to decide if this child is going to live or die.

If B. Hussein does not see the sanctity of one human life; how can he see the sanctity of 350 million human lives?

Today in Jerusalem, an Islamo Nazi massacred students in a Yeshiva. This is truly tragic that the world is turning a blind eye to this heinous act. The retaliation must be swift and brutal. We must obliterate the Gaza Strip. Allan Dershowitz was on CNN tonight calling for a harsh retaliation and if the terrorists are hiding in kindergartens than so be it. They do not value life, they are a culture of death. We should not risk our lives to save theirs when they have no value of live. May God avenge their blood.

Yesterday, an Israeli friend of mine called me up and asked me for a "small favor." He claimed that his business visa had expired and wanted to know if I would marry him for a green card and he would compensate me greatly. I asked him what's in it for me? He told me he would pay me whatever I want. So I told him my rate is $200,000.00. He then told me the going rate is between $5,000 - $10,000. I told him it costs between $10,000 - $14,000 for a green card the legal way. He tried to convince me that everyone does it and it's no big deal. I told him thanks but no thanks. I told him you are welcome in this country; just come in through the door not the window. He asked me to ask any of my friends if they would be interested, as if I am gonna pimp out my friends for a green card.

Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heros of SEAL Team 10

This weekend I read a book that is a must read for every patriotic American. Lone Survivor tells the heart wrenching story of Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the sole survivor of Operation Redwing, a battle against 150 Taliban terrorists. In June of 2005 Luttrell, Danny Dietz, Matt Axelson and Michael Murphy set out on a mission in the treacherous mountains of eastern Afghanistan to find a Taliban leader and his henchmen. They positioned themselves on a mountain where they would be able to keep an eye on him and once he was spotted they would call for back up and reinforcements. As Luttrell lay in a hollowed out tree he saw an Afghani goat herder walking right up to him with an axe, followed by two more goat herders and about 100 goats. The team of SEALs gathered around the goat herders and although they were unarmed (although I think an ax can be used as a weapon) they were uncooperative and refused to answer any questions. What happened next was heartbreaking to read as these heroes were about to seal their fate. They were in a quandary of whether they should kill the goat herders or let them loose. These four heroes were faced with a dilemma that should never had made it's way onto the battlefield - those arcane Rules of Engagement, which states that a soldier may not fire on an unarmed civilian. On this heated mountain they all discussed that if they killed these goat guys, they would spend many, many years in an American prison and the liberal media would tear them apart. Luttrell made the fateful deciding vote to let the goat fucks loose. Within 45 minuted they were surrounded by 150 Taliban fighters armed to the teeth. These four brave men fought and killed over one hundred Taliban. The SEALs were severely wounded, one missing part of his face, another missing part of his hand, yet they kept fighting. One of the tragic parts of all this was that one of the radios were not working. So, the only way to get in touch with their base was by cell phone. Murphy made the heroic decision that cost him his life to go out into the open and make that cell phone call. While on the phone he was shot in the stomach and back, but the call went through and when he hung up the phone he picked up his gun and continued fighting until he died. There were many acts of heroism on the mountain on that day and it is truly heart wrenching and moving to read. I think I used an entire box of tissues reading this book. The helicopter that came to rescue these SEALs was attacked by an RPG and all 16 on board were killed.

Luttrell spent the next 40 hours crawling around the mountain killing Taliban while trying to remain hidden. He was severely wounded and had lost his pants. He heard Army helicopters around him but his throat was clogged with mud and could not speak into his radio. I will not go into the harrowing details how he searches for water while dodging Taliban bullets. He manages to find a stream of water and at the stream he met some Afghani shepard's who decide to protect him. They took him to their village, risking the lives of everyone in the village. The Taliban had surrounded the town and placed a bounty on Luttrell's head. After several days, he was no longer safe in the village and started to head out to an Army post several miles away. He was met by special ops guys and the rest is history.

I can not even begin to imagine the suffering this Luttrell went through. To see all your friends die, you are in a foreign country, on enemy territory, not knowing if people know you are alive, seeing rescue so close - yet so far. The stamina, courage, faith and strength is a testament of what a real man is made of and the fantastic training of the Navy SEALs. Reading about his ordeal of his days all alone and wounded in the mountain and in the village (although some villagers were friendly - some came to torture him) and the reality of the unknown still sends shivers down my spine. It's amazing that he never lost hope, kept fighting and his determination to get out alive is inspirational. He knew it was his job to tell the world about how his friends died as a heroes.

The part of the book that made me mad was that all these 19 men would be alive today if not for the phony rules of engagement. Rules written by some politician who probably never fired a gun or put on a uniform. Our soldiers are professional warriors, war is their job, the battlefield is their office. Once on the battlefield, there should be no second guessing about any rules, no thoughts of "if I shoot this raghead, will I spend the next 20 years behind bars." The rules must be abolished and let the soldiers do what they are trained to do. It is unnerving to think that 19 of this country's very best would be alive today if the ROE's did not weigh so heavily on the minds of those SEALs that day on the mountain. What if the SEALs had killed the goat herders and even if the locals would find the bodies or they would have come looking for the goats, the SEALs still would have had enough time to call for help and reassess the mission. Lt. Murphy could have used the cell phone to call without a barrage of bullets raining down on him. Even if the Taliban came looking for them, it could have been 4 or 5 hours later instead of 45 minuted later.

May God avenge the blood of these heroes and may their lives serve as an inspiration to all of us!

A must read for every patriotic American.

Marine 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano is a true American hero. Raised on the tough streets of NY he enlisted in the Marines after high school and fought in the first Gulf War. When he completed his tour of duty he became a successful businessman in NYC. And then came 9/11. Once again he selflessly shaved his head, shined his boots and reported for duty as a United States Marine. Leaving a pregnant wife and small child at home he went off to the hell hole also known as Iraq. During a firefight he shot two Iraqi men who were not obeying his commands and in turn an asswipe "marine" (who I don't understand for the life of me ever made it into the Marines) falsely reported to his superiors that Pantano had murdered this Iraqi's in cold blood. Pantano was charged with pre-meditated murder and returned stateside to literally fight for his life on US soil.

This book was a great read. It gave a very clear picture what our heroic men in uniform have to go through on a daily basis on the battlefield. You feel the apprehension, the anxiety, the fear and the strength of these brave men fighting the scum of the earth. He put me in the firefight. I felt like I was on patrol. There was no PC bull crap. He was a breath of fresh air. There was no politics just brutal honesty about war. The more I read the more angry I got. I could not believe the government wasted one penny even investigating this true hero. Why does the government send our boys off to war to fight the filth of the planet and then second guess them is beyond me and any rationale person. Pantano was charged with pre-meditated murder; shouldn't everyone who goes to war be charged with pre-meditated murder since they are all given weapons with the intention to use them to maim and kill. It seems pre-meditated to me. This case was such a farce. No American soldier should have to be second guessing his gut instinct to kill a terrorist on the battlefield. The name Ilario Pantano should have never become a household name. Pantano should be compensated for the physical pain and more importantly the emotional pain and suffering he and his family endured as a result of this madness.

If Pantano intentionally killed a US soldier I could understand a court martial, but an Iraqi raghead??? As far as I'm concerned the heroic US soldiers have done enough for the Iraqi people. It's time for the Iraqi's to fight for their own freedom. Its time that the soldiers stop risking their lives for people who don't give a rats ass about the US soldiers who built schools, roads, and most of all liberated them from a tyrant. The Iraqi's need to fight their own war now. We have given them the tools now it needs to be their sons and daughters coming home in black body bags. If the Iraqi's don't take control of their own lives than its clear that they don't value life and we should finally use the bunker busters and B-2's and B-52's and every time a US soldier is killed an Iraqi town is decimated. Remember Dresden? One Sunni town and the next soldier killed it will be a Shiite town - we will treat them as equals. Only when the Iraqi's stop acting like 8th century barbarians will there be peace there until then we can only cry for our dead boys coming home in bags and pray for the wounded who are coming home maimed. May God bless them all with the highest level of blessing.

Despite this record, Israel and the U.S. are describing Abbas as a moderate and a peacemaker they intend to support. Prime Minister Olmert, en route to the U.S. to meet with President Bush, said that he saw “an opportunity that has not existed for a long time” now that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had dissolved his unity government with Hamas. The U.S. has indicated that it intends to continue funding, arming and training the forces of Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah. The State Department spokesman, Sean McCormack said that the role of American Lt.-Gen. Keith Dayton, who was in charge of American training and bolstering of the Fatah forces that were overrun by Hamas in Gaza, will be reevaluated in the coming weeks. “In the days and weeks ahead we’re going to take a look at that to see how to proceed with the security assistance program, how Keith Dayton is going to continue working with the Palestinians ... I believe that he has every intention and that we have every intention of his continuing his work with the Palestinians.” A U.S. diplomat said that he expected the 15-month-old foreign aid embargo on the PA to be lifted once Abbas appointed an emergency government without Hamas ( Jerusalem Post, June 17, 2007). The Middle East Quartet (United States, European Union, United Nations and Russia) has also issued a statement of support for Abbas and his decision over the weekend to dissolve the PA unity government ( State Department, June 16).

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “It is incomprehensible that President Bush and Prime Minister Olmert would even consider referring to Abbas as a peacemaker and working towards supporting, funding and arming him when he has done precisely nothing to fulfill Palestinian Arab commitments under the signed Oslo agreements and the 2003 Roadmap peace plan. He has not jailed terrorists, confiscated illegal weapons, or closed the bomb factories. He has not ended the incitement to hatred and murder in the PA-controlled media, mosques, schools and youth camps that feed terrorism. This should not be surprising, since his own Fatah, especially the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, are just as much involved in suicide bombing and other acts of terrorism as Hamas, the Popular Front, the Popular Resistance Committees and other Palestinian Arab terrorism groups. Both Fatah and Hamas have each murdered nearly 500 Israelis in nearly 7 years of suicide bombing and terrorism.
“Despite this, the Bush Administration and the Olmert government act as though Abbas and Fatah were moderates who should be strengthened and with whom peace negotiations are desirable. The impression is given that Abbas’ dissolving of the PA unity government with Hamas is somehow an opportunity for peace-making. This is a terrible mistake. It is vital that the United States and Israel cease the policy of funding, arming and diplomatically supporting Abbas and Fatah, which has ensured that the PA remains an unreformed terrorist regime. It is after Abbas and Fatah who retain control over the content of Palestinian textbooks and the media, both of which promote hatred of Jews, Israel, Christians and America. The U.S. and Israel are making the same mistake they made when they falsely stated that Yasser Arafat was a moderate peacemaker, and on that false premise made concessions to his Fatah regime which resulted in a surge of terrorism and placed Israel in greater danger.
“Also exposed again is, Mahmoud Abbas’ real attitude towards terrorism against Israeli civilians. It has been reported that Abbas has rejected an offer by the Arab League Secretary-General, Amr Moussa, to negotiate with Hamas’ Khaled Meshaal. A spokesman for Abbas has actually called Hamas ‘murderers’ and Abbas aide Yasser Abed Rabbo was also quoted as describing Hamas as ‘killers’ ( Jerusalem Post, June 19, 2007). Yet, whenever Hamas murdered Israelis, he never referred to them as killers. Until now, Abbas did not lift a finger to stop terrorism against Israelis. On the contrary, he previously praised terrorists wanted by Israel as ‘heroes fighting for freedom,’ stated that ‘Israel calls them murderers, we call them strugglers.’ Abbas also described Hamas terrorist chieftain Sheikh Ahmad Yasin as a ‘martyr.’ So much for Abbas condemning terrorism and working to end it.
“Now, however, when he himself is under attack from Hamas, Abbas can suddenly reject dealing with Hamas, authorize Fatah to fight Hamas with full force and describe them as ‘murderers.’ The conclusion is obvious: Palestinian Arabs who murder Jews are not terrorists so far as Mahmoud Abbas is concerned. It seems that when Hamas kills Jews, that’s acceptable. It only when Hamas kills Arabs that it becomes a problem.
“Mahmoud Abbas got himself into this situation of empowering Hamas and legitimizing it by forming a unity government with it. It is not the responsibility of Israel, the United States or anyone else to save him and his forces now that Hamas has decided to take over Gaza. Abbas has done nothing to merit our support. It is vital that we do not decide at this moment to continue faster in the same wrong direction of trying further to empower Abbas. Until and unless Abbas take steps to fulfill all Palestinian obligations under the Oslo Agreements, there should be neither diplomatic, financial or military support nor other rewards and concessions for Abbas and the PA.”

Today, President Bush went to the GOP in congress and in every sense begged them to support his immigration bill (read: amnesty bill). It is very disturbing that the president did not show this enthusiasm when pushing the war funding bill to support our troops serving overseas. He seems to let that one slide. He should be pushing the bill that would support the troops whom he sent to war and not a bill that supports the criminals living in this country. Let's face it you come to this country illegally - you have committed a crime.

Mr. President, you do not have a mandate and you no longer speak for me and many of my conservative brethren feel that you have abandoned your conservative roots. It's time you switch parties. Your spending is out of control. Gas prices are sky rocketing. Why are your friends the Saudis stiffing us? Why isn't the war paying for itself? The Iraqis have enough oil to support their own war! If the Iraqis want to slaughter each other that is their prerogative. When are you going to take care of Iran? Have you succumbed to the appeasement tactics of Chamberlain? Why don't you support the men and women who wear our uniform? Why do we have heroes like Pantano and Lozano fighting for their lives; not on a battlefield in Iraq - but in the battlefields of the courtroom! Soldiers should not have to second guess in a battle whether the next shot fired from their gun is going to land them in a courtroom. War is ugly, people get killed - question the actions of the enemy - not the actions of the brave soldiers who risk their lives everyday to serve this country. Why have you allowed the incarceration of two border guards, yet, the drug smuggler is still free to roam? Why are you giving amnesty to criminals, to people who have no respect for the laws of the land that they need to come in through the window and not the front door. Thieves come in through windows; guests come through the front door. If we need the labor so badly, why not eliminate all the recipients of welfare and in lieu of them sitting on their lazy asses all day - let them do the farm work! That should end welfare right then and there! Mr. President, enough is enough - remember those who put you where you are... remember our voices... remember the voices of those soldiers who aren't coming back because they didn't have the right ammo or equipment because you pushed more for the illegals than you did for the heroes - May their memory serve as a blessing for us all! Never forget!

This past week has been a hectic one to say the least. I returned from Israel earlier in the week and I had the longest bout of jet-lag. It probably did not help the fact that the day I landed I got off the plane went to Long Island, Staten Island, Manhattan Island back to Staten Island and back to Manhattan. In any case, I was in Israel for a few weeks celebrating my brother's wedding. I think this trip to Israel was an eye opener for me - I cant live in Israel until they get rid of the socialist society and the mentality of "the government will provide" becomes extinct. Another interesting factor I noticed is that the single Anglo girls living in Israel who made aliyah in the past few years seem to have one purpose to their existence - obtaining an MRS. Many of them have the mentality of I will teach in a gan, work in a dentist office, babysit or do whatever until they find "rich" Mr. Right and at that point there is no need to have any professional goals because babies will come hard and fast and since the government will provide there is no point in even thinking long term finances - UGH! I am off the aliyah bandwagon at this point. One of my brother's sheva brachot was on a night hike sponsored by Nefesh B'Nefesh and my new sister in law's brother was walking behind me on the hike and of course all these single new immigrants were all over him and they were bombarding him with questions and were pestering him why he didn't want to make aliyah. The ever so polite Canadians response was because I like living in Calgary but these pestering JAPS kept saying there is no future for Jews in Canada etc... I wanted to shout to these dumbfucks - HE IS NOT JEWISH!!! He looks like a typical Slavic non-Jew but of course these husband hungry girls probably just saw a male and wishfully thought they could convert him.

I rented a car and went to the Dead Sea for a day and it was fabulous! I got the massage of a lifetime. I noticed that at the spa there were people from all over the world with various types of skin conditions. As I sat in one of the hot tubs I was hopping that none of these skin conditions are contagious the longer I sat the more of a hypochondriac I became and finally pulled myself from the tub. I'm usually not a hypochondriac but some of those skin diseases looked scary.

One of my brother's air force buddies came in from Turkey for the wedding and we decided to go to Hebron early one morning. I was told women in the back so I sat with him in the back by the back door and all of the sudden a hassidic guy comes to me and with his back toward me says "women to the back, women to the back" I felt like Rosa Parks and I pretended I was deep in conversation with my brother's friend. The hasid behind me was American and politely translated and being that this Air Force Captain is a huge rule follower he promptly got up and moved to the back...

On my way to Israel I got to the Israir check in and saw that it was me and about 200 hassidic me and of course I could imagine my seat was probably between two of these folks so when I was going through security I said the Israeli security "is it gonna be me and them" and he said for your sake I hope there are others on the plane. He was a nice guy, he didnt ask me the usual bullshit security questions - he cracked a few jokes and then said remember not to take anything from those people who wear the kaffiyahs - you know who they are. I laughed thinking to myself I could not imagine someone from American Airlines saying the same thing and his job still waiting for him the next day. When I was going through TSA security on my way to the gate, once more I found myself alone in the sea of black hassidic men. When it was my turn to show my passport and ticket the agent asked me why all the men are throwing all their passports on the floor and she had to pick them up (she was not young!). My response was loud and clear and I told her that these men think that that they might get zapped by lightening if they treat women with respect and give them eye contact or god forbid they accidentally touch a women by showing her their passport. There was swift reaction and to my surprise the next few guys on the line put their passport on a book and handed the woman the book. That's what I call progress.

The wedding was very beautiful it was in a garden of a restaurant and the place stunning. The morning of the wedding I went to get my make up done by a haredi French lady who used to do make up for TV and movies and now that she is religious her husband does not allow her to do it on men. As she is applying the make-up we were discussing what kind of make ups she uses etc and then she said to me in her very thick french accent "you like my make-up I wearing?" I said it was very nice and then she said to me "I just make sex with my husband this morning and the make still on!" I almost fell off the make up stool. I then had to stare at her an inch from my face for the next hour - there is not a word to describe how I felt...

Last night I went with a friend to the Hannity v. Sharpton debate at the Sheraton Hotel in NYC. I was pretty impressed with Hannity, he was well prepared with a laundry list of Sharptons "statements taken out of context." Of course the main debate was Sharpton's hypocrisy in regards to race statements when whites are the speakers and when blacks are the speakers of the "racist" comment. Hannity read a list of Sharptons own statements that were racists and anti-Semitic. It was interesting to see that with every statement Hannity read Sharpton's voice became louder and louder and his tone more and more defensive. If he was really innocent, there is no reason to react so defensively. Sharpton's true colors as a charlatan shone brightly last night. I found it interesting that those cheering for Sharpton were black elderly folks who remember the Jim Crow laws and their mindset is still living in the 50's (because that's where Sharpton wants to keep them). The Hannity cheering crowd composed of whites and young blacks who see Sharpton for the fraud he is. There was not one white person in Sharptons "Amen" "Hallelujah" cheering squad. I think that speaks volumes.

I hate shopping! There I said it. I know it's an oddity for someone of the female gender. For me shopping is a boring necessity. I only go into a mall if I absolutely need something, otherwise I can manage with the (tremendous) amount of clothing I already have. However, now that my brother's wedding is creeping up on me, I need to find a dress and I need to find one fast. The last few weddings where I needed to wear a gown I had them made but it looks like I woke up too late to have that done since I am leaving to Israel in a month. Thus, I am forced to go into those dreaded stores. I went to about five stores so far and to no avail. Not only do I find these dresses hideous but they all need a tremendous amount of work (being that I have to add some sort of sleeve, take in the waist and of course a hem) If I could find a dress that was have decent looking, I wouldn't mind all the alterations. So, I dedicated yesterday to finding a dress. My friend told me to go to Filene's Basement in Union's Square because "they have tons of dresses" NOT. They had nothing. Nada. Zilch. I found a dress, but it was short but it was cute so I went to try it on, but the line for the dressing room almost reached Times Square. What I usually do when I find myself in this situation, I find a semi-private place by the coats or somewhere where no one goes and try on what ever I need to try on. I could not such a place because Filene's Basement is all windows that overlooks Union Square. I put the dress down and walked out of the store. I was so fed up with this whole dress hunting that I went to Barnes and Noble across the Square. The first book I saw was Schmucks!: Our Favorite Fakes, Frauds, Lowlifes, Liars, the Armed and Dangerous, and Good Guys Gone Bad By Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder, two of the most entertaining guys around this town. I read the entire book in about a half hour, it was HILARIOUS!!! It was a breath of fresh air to read something so politically incorrect. It was great. An easy read and a good laugh. I was literally laughing out loud. I have seen Jackie perform live and this book is his act written down - he is very talented. It was a great pick me up after the gruelling shopping experience. I then went to Macy's in Herald Square, only to find they had nothing either. I think I am gonna take a break for now....

No Surprise - ABC News Politicizes VA Tech Tragedy

The bodies are still warm and ABC News has already politicized the massacre at VA Tech today. Half of the Nightline program tonight was dedicated to establishing tougher gun control laws. They interviewed victims of Columbine and other such shootings who were all supportive of tougher laws. For some reason these folks seem to think that guns have a mind of their own that they jump up and load their magazines themselves and start shooting at random. Proponents of tougher gun laws fail to realize that this murderer would have killed regardless of the laws. If the guns were obtained illegally than any gun prevention law would be ineffective. If the guns were legally possessed, a law still would not have prevented this tragedy. It is shameful that ABC News would stoop so low in making this a political issue. This is a tragedy, ABC could have the decency of letting the bodies cool before exposing their true colors as lobbyists for the anti - gun crowd.

Along the lines of the VA Tech tragedy - this really could have been prevented if students were armed. Students would have been armed if society was not so gun phobic and realize that guns can't kill if a person is not pulling the trigger.

Gun bill gets shot down by panel

HB 1572, which would have allowed handguns on college campuses, died in subcommittee.

A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.
House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.

The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.
Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.
Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."
The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.
Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.
In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities.

Justice for the Duke accused

It has come to no surprise that the accuser in the Duke lacrosse case is a lying goldiging bitch. I have held this position from the beginning. This girl should be criminally charged with filing a false police report, perjury, obstruction of justice and whatever else they can pile on her. This is not the first time she has accused someone of rape and the charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence. She needs to learn her lesson and set precedent for any other lying goldigging ho's out there. It irks me to no end that the AG said she is not going to face criminal charges because she is mentally unstable and it was going to be of no purpose. Why wasnt her mental capabilities evaluated when she falsely accused these boys of rape??? Did anyone at the DA's office think to look at her checkered past to see that she is bipolar and she may be a lying bitch??? She has ruined the lives of three innocent players and not to mention the legal fees which some have suggested have amounted to over $1 million per accused. Duke University should also have to pay for this. The 88 professors who rushed to convict these boys without a trier of fact should all lose their jobs. Off the bat they fired the lacrosse coach and suspended two of the accused based on false allegations before their trial. This is no different that Kobe Bryant's accuser who tried to weasel her way into millions by claiming she was raped by Kobe when in fact it was consensual sex. How many rape victims brag about the "anatomy" of the "rapist" hours after the rape (as the Kobe accuser had)?

As much as so called legal experts are claiming the falsely accused may not have legal recourse against the DA because he is entitled to sovereign immunity (see the 11th amendment). However, this immunity may be pierced if the prosecutor's actions were outside his scope of his duties as a prosecutor. Some may argue that refusing to admit exculpatory evidence from the defense amongst other misconduct by the DA will pierce the immunity.

In any case, these guys must sue the State of North Carolina (for malicious prosecution and violations of civil rights) and all the way down to each and every professor at Duke who slandered these boys and convicted them before their trial as did Sharpton, the NAACP, Jesse Jackson and every other shyster who accused these boys of this heinous crime must be exposed for their hypocrisy. Nifong is done. He will be disbarred by the end of the year for misconduct.

I dont think that this is coincidental that this broke at the same time Imus was thrown off the air. I am no fan of Imus but I am a fan of the First Amendment, he has every right to say what he said. It is ironic that these so called "civil rights leaders" had not a care in the world when three white men's civil rights were violated and made personal racial attacks on the Duke accused a year ago that were not true - and now they feel like they have the moral authority to determine who the racists are? I am sick and tired of the double standard for certain ethnic groups in this country. Someone has got to shut up Sharpton and Jackson. I haven't heard one apology from either of these clowns for the terrible things they said about the lacrosse players.

Kobe's accuser never faced the music and nor will this girl. Our legal system is supposed to work so that people are not falsely accused and the benefit of the doubt is given to the defendant. People are not allowed to go around falsely accusing people and not be punished for doing so. We are treading in dangerous waters when these people are not held accountable for their actions.

Last week Columbia University released the punishment for the anarchists who rushed the stage last October at a Minutemen Event held at Columbia, ending the event and curtailing freedom of speech. Shamefully, it took the university SIX MONTHS to come up with a "punishment" for these lunatics. They were given a WARNING. Is this a punishment? If lunatic anarchists like these see that they only receive a warning, what prevents them from repeating this behavior? They paid no price for their outrageous behavior. This will encourage more students to rush stages at events in which the views of the speaker maybe different than their own. Columbia set a very dangerous precedent. These students should have been expelled and their transcripts should reflect their misbehavior. This would prevent anymore such incidents. Further, future employers and grad schools have a right to know that a candidate can not respect the views of others and become out of control when they disagree with an individual. Lee Bolinger has got to go. He had a chance to rectify what was done on his campus and he failed as an administrator and as an educator. Shame on you, Mr. Bolinger!

All in the civilized world breathed a collective sigh of relief when we saw the British hostages land at Heathrow airport today. However, the dust hadn't even settled and critics are already judging the actions of the sailors while they were in captivity. Traditionally, the protocol for servicemen held hostage is to state their name, rank and serial number. These poor hostages are coming under fire for drinking tea, smiling and giving "apologetic" interviews. No one knows what the past 13 days have been for these sailors and marines held by a bunch of lunatic terrorists. Further, "traditionally" doesn't apply anymore, we are not fighting a traditional war. It is a slap in the face and it undermines their service when elements of the population (AKA the media) draws conclusions on how they should have acted while in captivity. Until you walk an inch in the shoes of these hostage no body has a right to judge their actions while they were held by terrorist thugs.

Welcome Home Laptop!!!

After 18 days in "rehab" my beloved laptop is back home. Of course it was not a smooth recovery. I dropped the laptop off at Best Buy on March 2nd and told them them to fix the broken hinge. On March 12, they told me that the computer was ready and I can come pick it up. They brought me the computer and I saw that the hinge was not fixed. I was told that there was no way to fix it. After giving these dumbasses a piece of my mind they promised to fix it. So its 18 days later and all is well with my beloved laptop and its broken hinge.

Hooters in Israel

I can't believe that it took this long for someone to bring Hooters to Israel. Hooters in big (no pun intended) in most beachy type places. I know along A1A in South FL you can find Hooters almost every other mile. Unlike the other American franchises that failed in Israel, Hooters will do great because sex sells in any language in any country. Of course, you know if you see any haradis there, you know they come for the wings!

I think the coalition forces in Iraq should open some Hooters franchises in Baghdad and Falluja it might help the terrorists think about something else aside for blowing themselves up!

Stop Gun Phobia in NYC NOW!

New York City hates guns! Last week there was a shooting in the Village in which two UNarmed auxiliary officers were murdered in cold blood. And of course the incessant media coverage over the Sean Bell incident back in November where police officers killed a man when they felt threatened that he had a gun. Three of the five officers were indicted in this incident. Michael Bloomberg and Ray Kelly should be ashamed of themselves. These cops have miliseconds to react to a dangerous situation and their reward for doing their job is an indictment. Bloomberg has turned NYC into a gun phobic city. The police officers thought Bell had a gun and he was not being cooperative, so they shot him, end of story. Bloomberg and Kelly should have backed these men and not convict them in the media the day after the shooting. Bloomberg, do I need to remind you what happened the last time guns were taken out if the hands of the people, something called the Holocaust. Jews should be the biggest supporters of the NRA and they are not.

NYC keeps enacting tougher and tougher gun control laws and gun related crimes are on the rise in NYC. In 2005, Gov. Bush of Florida signed into law the "stand your ground law" this allows citizens to use force when threatened anywhere on anyone. Since this law took effect gun related crimes in FL have been on a decline. If someone walks into a restaurant and starts shooting, you can bet most of the patrons in the restaurant will shoot the gunman and continue their meal. Not so in NYC. Last week when a gunman walked into De Marcos in the village and killed an employee, no one shot back. It was left to the unarmed officers to give their lives in pursuit of this murderer. These men could still be alive today if NYC didn't have their ridiculous gun laws. Imagine, if even half the patrons in the restaurant had guns and confronted the gunman, we would probably have a happier ending. Bloomberg has instilled such a fear of guns in the population that people think guns are our enemy. I have seen commercials where the person is stating "make sure your child doesn't play in a house where there is a gun." These ads add to the fear of guns. The bad people will always find a way to get guns, we need to put the guns back in the hands of the good people so the good guns on the streets can outnumber the bad ones on the streets. God bless the two officers, may their deaths not be in vain. Bloomberg, change the gun laws NOW!

Those Born 1930-1979...

I received this in an email several years ago and deleted. My sister sent it to me again. I think its great...

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because ... WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound, CD's or Ipods, no cell phones!, no personal computers , no Internet or chat rooms....... WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them! Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! If YOU are one of them . CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good. And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were. Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

BEWARE: SCAM ARTISTS ON CRAIGSLIST!!!

My turn has finally come... I tend to think I am a proactive person and try to prevent problems from happening before they arise, this has worked for me until now. In January I put my apartment for rent on Craigslist. As many of you know, I received hundreds of responses. I told those who responded that they need to contact my roommate since she was doing the roommate screening and work out the technicalities with her. After about a week on Craigslist, my roommate found someone she was satisfied with and I moved on. About three weeks ago, I received an email from someone in Africa stating that she sent me $3,400 for my apartment and why hadn't I contacted her. I told her no one ever told her to send the money and the apartment was already rented out. A week later a cashier's check from Chase Manhattan Bank in the amount of $3,400 arrived in the mail. I immediately emailed her and told her I was going to return the check right back to her. She asked me if I could cash it and wire the money via Western Union to her agent in Miami. I was not really comfortable depositing the check in my name because I was unsure of the sender. I went to a local Chase bank, since it was Chase who issued the check and asked them to cash it. Of course they gave me crap about it and told me the only way to cash this was to deposit it into my account (I already had gone to one of those bootleg check cashing places). At this point this was becoming very time consuming and I notified her that I was going to take a $100 PITA (pain in the ass) fee for my troubles. I deposited the money and waited for the check to clear and when it did I went to Western Union and wired the money to her agent. I wired the money and sent her the confirmation and was happy that this was all over, or so I thought. I then received a slew of emails telling me to go back to Western Union and withdraw the transfer and wire it to Nigeria and she would pay me $700 for my trouble. This raised red flags in my head. First, Nigeria in my mind equals some sort of terror cell. Second, why would someone so easily relinquish $700 to a stranger. My brother told me this was definitely a scam and told me to read this on Craigslist about avoiding scams. After reading the scam page I was in shock. I could not believe that I could not see through this piece of shit. Basically what these assholes do is respond to ads of craigslist and then send more money than necessary (my apt was only $1100, she sent me $3400) with a FAKE cashiers check. They then instruct the person to cash it and wire the rest to a travel agent. The bank will cash the check and will only pick up that its a fake check weeks after its cashed and the money is gone, they will then slam you with fees and possible criminal charges. (Using a fake check is a felony!)

I quickly called Western Union and they put a stop on the money transfer and I was able to get the cash back. I emailed her and told her that I know that she is a scam and that I will go to the FBI and police. I haven't heard a word back from her. I went to the police station today and told the officer what happened (I want to cover my ass, ex post facto) and the officer looked at me and ever so frankly said "police are reactive not proactive. You are in the middle of being scammed and until the scam is over we cant do anything about it." I was like wouldn't we have a safer world if law enforcement was PROACTIVE and not REACTIVE??!?!?!

I will call the FBI in the morning. I am not so much pissed as much as I am shocked at myself for not trusting my gut and ripping up the check when I got it. I usually have a good eye for assholes and shysters and I usually avoid them at all costs. I will post the developments as they happen.

Here is another example of the barbaric practices from the religion of peace. In any other civilized country a rape victim would be protected, would even receive free counseling and some sort of justice. Not so in the great Kingdom of Saud. A victim of rape does not have the benefit of rape shield laws or the comfort in knowing that the justice system will give the her attackers some sort of justice. A rape victim in these wonderful countries is sentenced to 90 lashes (or even to death). Where are all the 'human rights' groups who lash out against Israel for their human rights "violations." Laptop Withdrawel

It has been five days since I have been separated with my beloved laptop and I think I am starting to feel the effects. I lent my laptop to my brother in law for a business trip he went on and when he returned it to me the hinge was broken. I brought it to Best Buy because I have an extended warranty, but they told me it will take 2-4 weeks to repair. (Although I find that hard to believe it takes that long). In any case, I feel like I am missing a limb without my laptop. Sitting at a desktop to do casual things like surfing the Internet is too stiff and not relaxing for me. I like being able to lie on my bed or sit on the couch or at the kitchen table or in my car or ANYWHERE while on the computer. I think I need to find a laptops anonymous...

On another note for computer savvy people out there, hang out at the Geek Squad counter at Best Buy. Best Buy charges an arm and a leg to do the most basic computer diagnostic test that a second grader can do. There was a girl there who plopped down almost $200 for the Geek Squad to back up her hard drive and install an anti virus program. Then there was a women who wanted to bring in her laptop so they could run the Windows and anti Virus Updates (about a hundred bucks!). I thought of a new business I can open; I will stand by the Geek Squad counter and talk to the customers and offer to run their anti virus and Windows updates for 1/2 the price. People are really DUMB!!!

Walter Reed - much ado about something...

Over the last several days, one of the newsworthy stories have been the conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Maryland. Last week C-Span brought cameras into the facility and interviewed a variety of wounded soldiers about the conditions at Walter Reed. It seemed that they were aware of the article in the Washington Post that sparked this madness and were very guarded with their answers. Today two wounded vets and a family member testified before Congress about the conditions at the hospital. In everything I had read and seen regarding the complaints against the hospital were basically aesthetic. That there is a mold problem, that there are some buildings are in disrepair and red tape roadblocks. I have yet to read about a complaint regarding the medical treatment and medical care the soldiers receive there; that the doctors did not perform adequately or that nurses were neglectful. My intention is not to belittle the situation, as I have the utmost respect and admiration for our brave and heroic servicemen and I believe they deserve care and treatment suitable for royalty. I have been to Walter Reed and the Bethesda Naval hospital, to the naked they both seemed to be superb medical facilities. Bureaucratic red tape is usual for any government agency and it is an epidemic in the Army, so the fact that one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing should surprise no one. Mold infestation does not happen over night. This is something with adequate maintenance is something that should have been controlled. I do believe that the military does provide superb medical care for its service members and I have many family members who have served and will only go to an Army doctor or medical facility. Several years ago my 11 year old cousin broke his arm at school and the school was going to take him to a local hospital; my aunt was adamant that he be taken to Bethesda Naval Hospital even though it was a considerable distance from the school.

This is definitely a travesty for the military and especially for the servicemen who put their lives on the line for this country and the least we can do for them is insure that if (God Forbid) they are wounded, they receive top notch medical care in facilities that would be fit for a president.

I hope this sheds light on the conditions many vets face in VA hospitals around the country. There are WWII, Korean and Vietnam vets who are subject to deplorable conditions in some of these hospitals. These are the unsung heroes of yesteryear who have been replaced by the Iraqi vets of today. When I was in college I interviewed Vietnam vets for a project sponsored by the library and visited many VA hospitals. Some had positive experiences, but many had horror stories of VA care. The vets of yesterday should be treated no different than the vets of today's. They are all heroes. I only hope and pray that the spotlight on the problems at Walter Reed will be a wake up call for the military to examine all medical facilities. This should not be a witch hunt by the media against the administration (which it has already become) but a wake up call not to forget those who almost made the ultimate sacrifice. The Army should have a program "No Vet left behind." God bless all those who served and continue to serve.

Today, former Mass. governor Mitt Romney announced his candidacy for president at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan. The NJDC, the hypocrites they are, were up in arms about the location of the announcement. True, Henry Ford was a rabid anti Semite, but so were most people those days (anyone remember FDR???). Romney choice is appropriate for the crisis the US is having in the auto industry. He is trying to use Ford, not as an anti-Semitic symbol, but as a symbol of creativity and innovation. Romney is far from an anti-Semite. I have met him last year and he was nothing but gracious and courteous - something many politicians lack. Romney was the keynote speaker at the Republican Jewish Coalition's 2006 Winter Meeting, where he spoke beautifully. He has an excellent record on Israel and with the Jewish community. The Jewish Democrats need to turn the mirror on their own party and stop blowing hot air. Focus on the issues, NJDC! Focus on the fact that you have a former KKK member as a Senator, a Farrakhan loving congressmen and the only person who you could find to give convocation at your winter meeting is a terrorist from Dearborn Michigan. The democrats have real anti-Semitic skeletons in their closet that need to be cleaned out before they fabricate a new one that doesn't exist in the GOP. Jews are hated for nothing, don't give people a reason to hate. Don't alienate the few friends of Israel we still have....

I'd like to remind the Democratic Party one thing they may have forgotten. Terrorists don't discriminate, they hate democrats just like they hate everyone else. They will kill you no matter if you are a donkey or elephant! Jew or Christian! It is troubling that at the Democratic Winter Meeting last week convocation was given by Husham Al-Husainy. A man who is at least a terrorist sympathizer if not a terrorist himself. He has led many anti-American and anti-Israel protests Dearborn Michigan in the past. He is an extreme Shiite cleric who held many pro-Hezbollah rallies during the war with Israel over the summer. But of course the Democrats, all loving and tolerant allowed this terrorist to lead them in prayer. This was the prayer:

The Democrats must know that Muslims believe that if you are not Muslim you are "doomed." Thus, according to him "the people you bless" are Muslims and "the people who you doom" is everyone else. Next he mentions the war and violence and oppression - what exactly is he talking about? Of course anyone with common sense knows this was an attack on Israel and the US. Of course people with common sense would see him for the terrorist he is, investigate his terrorist connections and activities, have him arrested, and prosecute him to the full extent of the law. Not have him give convocation at a Winter Meeting. This should have been the front page of every newspaper, if this would have been a Republican there would be incessant media coverage. I am sure this will come back to haunt them during election season which is rapidly approaching.

Now that Iran has found the cure for AIDS I am sure everyone will now start flocking to Tehran for medical treatment. This is great news for the US health care system as we wont be flooded with patients who come here for treatment from around the globe. They can go to Iran now and flood their hospitals. I wonder why they have kept it a secret for so long?? If they found the cure for AIDS they must have found cures for all other diseases that exist. There are probably no sick people in Iran. Unless, the "herbal" cure is really just a special sleeping pill in which the patient goes to sleep for a very long time and never wakes up. In some countries that is called euthanasia. But it's Iran, I expect nothing less from them.

Super Bowl XLI

Tonight was probably one of the lamest super bowls I have ever watched. I was rooting for the Colts and I think Tony Dungy is a great coach, a great human being I am very happy he won. However, there was an element of excitement missing from this game that is usually present at other super bowl games. I think maybe because it wasn't a close game so there weren't really any nail biting exciting moment. Further, it started off lame from the get go. Billy Joel did a lame ass job at the national anthem, it was totally void of feeling and meaning. I remember when Beyonce sang the national anthem at the super bowl a couple of years ago in Houston and it shook her to the core, she sang it like she meant it. Billy Joel was a disgrace. Then came the half time show with Prince. It was awful!!! Ever since Janet Jackson's Nipplegate the half time shows have become more and more pathetic. Tonight I wasn't sure if Prince was singing/screeching/mumbling/whining or a mixture of all the above. Prince was a thing of the past. He is not a legend anymore. They should have had Bon Jovi, Springsteen, Gloria Estefan (since she only lives minutes from the stadium), Kelly Clarkson - ANYONE but Prince. This was probably Prince's only super bowl. He was absolutely terrible.

In any case, I enjoyed watching the Colts win. I think Dungy is a great coach and a real role model. It was quite moving to see Dungy hug Lovie Smith when the game was over. Smith was the linebackers coach under Dungy when he coached the Buccs.

Congratulations Tony Dungy for a job well done and an honor well deserved.

ATM Machines

I don't know why ATM machines haven't figured out how to dispense rolls of quarters. I have had this problem for a while now, I always need (lots of) quaters when the banks are closed. I have to park in this lot where I have to put in $5.50 of quarters. I had enough for today, but then I realized I wont have enough for tomorow morning. Of course, I couldn't find an open bank within a stones throw of my location on 42nd and 5th. I am hoping when I go home tonight I will stop by the grocery store and the clerks will show me some good ol' Floridian courtesy and sell me a roll of quarters. Many a time back in FLA when I was in the middle of doing my laundry in the middle of the night and I would run out of quaters, I would run to the grocery store and they would kindly sell me a roll. I hope I have the same luck tonight.

I can't really figure out why we are still paying meters with coins, in some cities in Miami - you can use your cell phone to pay your meter.

Disney

I got back from Disney today. I am not such a fan of theme parks. I would rather be hiking outdoors, go to a cool museum or to a b-ball game. But the trip was free so I went. It was decided that we go to MGM (I didn't care to voice my opinion since I wasn't paying). I cant believe that park is still open. MGM is basically half the size of a football field filled with shops with themes of various Disney movies (a star wars themed shop, a toy story shop, an Indiana Jones store, etc) I can count on one hand how many rides there are. There is the tower of terror, the movie ride and the star wars ride, for $60 (and that was the FL discount price) you would think there would be more rides. The shows were also pretty dull; you can count them on one hand as well (Indiana Jones, Stunt show, Muppet's and Fatisma). It was pretty dull. I don't think that this is a place you even need to go once in your life. I would have rather stayed at the hotel and drank beer in the hot tub! I don't think I will ever take my kids to Disney as a kid I think my parents took us about twice, the rest of the trips were class trips to Disney. Growing up we took many road trips which were fantastic. We had themed trips - like the baseball trip where we went to another baseball game every other night in another city. We did lots of camping, hiking, science museums (I still don't like to drink coke because of an exhibit I saw when I was 10 at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago - prob one of the best science museums in the world) bike trails, mountain climbing, zoos, whitewater rafting. We stayed in quaint little cabins in the woods, we stayed in old fashioned bed and breakfasts and regular Holiday Inns. We did something in every city east of the Mississippi River. I think these vacation were better than any summer camp or theme park has to offer. A few years ago when I was living in Brooklyn, a friend and I went to the water park in Great Adventures and we decided we didn't want to go back to Brooklyn and wanted to get away but we didn't know to where. So we bought some underwear (bec we only had our swimsuits) and hit the road. There were rules - no using interstates and we could only stay in mom and pop inns and eat in non chain/fast food restaurants. It was loads of fun! Hopefully now that I am moving back to NY its easier to go on road trips because you cover many states in just a few hours.

I am sitting in the Orlando airport waiting for my friend to pick me up. I just arrived from NY and he is driving up from Miami - but he left from work so I am camping here in the airport which is more like a hotel lobby for the next three hours (I usually would not do this but he is paying for my trip!. (MCO has a Hyatt in the middle of the airport). I am a pretty good traveller and I usually have no problems on flights until today. I was sitting in the middle of the exit row, I don't mind sitting in the middle if I am in the exit row BUT the guy sitting to my left (next to the window) had a stench that could kill birds. It was a stench that would paralyze you. He was wearing a yarmulke and I really wanted to tell him that he is giving Jews a bad name with his odor. Most normal humans take at least one shower a day. I have even met people (very rare) who take showers every two days, but, there should be a law that if you are going on a plane you must shower before the flight. It was terrible. He fell asleep and started drooping over into my seat when he could have leaned on the window! Thus, I was forced to practically sit on the lap of the guy to my right. (He was cute - I didn't mind ;) and he bought me a drink!) I am assuming the stench reached him as well. I really could have used a gas mask. This is a PSA (public service announcement). IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BOARD A PLANE, AS A COURTESY FOR THE OTHER PASSENGERS ON BOARD - PLEASE SHOWER BEFOREHAND!!!!

Brooklyn from the air

Yesterday I flew into LGA. Since there were high winds the pilot came from the southwest as opposed to coming in from the east like the usually do when landing at LGA. This provided me for a tour of Brooklyn I have never had before. Because of the high winds we flew really low and I saw Brooklyn and parts of Queens from above, it was really interesting. We came in from just west of Coney Island and crossed through Brooklyn. I could actually see people and recognized streets and buildings, lots and lots of buildings. The only greenery I saw were the cemeteries. From the air Brooklyn really does look like a jungle of brick.

Troop "Surge"

Last night President Bush addressed the nation during primetime and released his plan of adding additional boots on the ground in Iraq. I supported this war from the beginning and I continue to support the war but 20,000 additional troops is not enough. The bottom line is that the Iraqi's are in a centuries old civil war. The once oppressed Shiites are now taking revenge on the once powerful Sunnis. These people having been killing each other for the past thousand years and they will do it for a thousand more. We need to take a lesson from what happened in Germany in WWII. We need another Dresden for this war to be victorious. Coalition forces need to give everyone in the Sunni triangle 48 hours to get out with only the clothes on their back and then they need to bomb the sh** out of the place and level it. Then they need to move to Sadr City and level that as well. We need another 200,000 troops on the ground not 20,000. We need to flood the place. As I said before, for every American soldier that gets killed, a city goes. This will end the war in no time. The Iraqi government is just a puppet of Iran. They are enjoying this violence and havoc. The government needs to be cleaned up. The US should not allow an al-Sadr follower or Ahmedinejad lover to lead Iraq. Frankly, I don't not care about the Iraqi people. The US gave 3000+ heroes to liberate them. They need to bite the bullet and fight for themselves now. They need to turn over their fathers and sons, mothers and brothers if they want a free and democratic Iraq. Most of all, we need to stop fighting a politically correct war. If we allow our brave men and women in uniform to do their job without them having to worry about being dragged to a court martial for killing the enemy - we will win this war.

Don't see The Good Sheperd

Last night I went to see The Good Sheperd. It was the first major motion picture I have seen in a while. It was very long boring and pointless. You always know a movie is going to suck when it is based on star power and not a good plot. Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Robert Deniro, Angelina Jolie and others had roles in the film, but added nothing to the substance to the movie. I was under the impression that the movie was about the early days of the CIA. It was about a recluse agent who has a bitchy and bitter wife who goes around the world doing various missions. Most of the movie is flashbacks of this agent. It is very hard to follow and very pointless. It was another movie with the message of don't trust your government and government agencies are corrupt. I think I usually don't see anything critics say is good - they are usually wrong. They rate movies based on the fame of the stars in the movies. I usually enjoy movies that the critics don't like because they are good. Critics are probably paid by the studios to give their movies good ratings because they rarely give good rating to small low budget Indy films. Dumb movie. Dumb actors. Dumb plot. Don't see it.

How is this Yeshiva still open?

It boggles my mind why there are no padlocks on the doors and no yellow crime scene tape around the perimeter of Torah Temimah in Brooklyn, NY. There is no doubt in the minds of many that heinous criminal activity occurred in that building. Thus, this is a crime scene. The fact that the yeshiva allowed this molestation for 40 years makes them culpable and it's beyond me how there are still people living in Brooklyn who have no problem sending their sons to school there. I know in Brooklyn people tend to be all about their "frummy" image (even though they all deny it!) and care about what people are going to say or think about them. What are people going to say or think when they hear you kept your child in an institution which harbors child molesters? What are people going to say or think when it comes to marrying off these boys, will potential matches think, hmm.... this boy went to Torah Temimah, was he also molested there? Parents have the power to set a precedent here for the whole yeshiva community in Brooklyn which seems to provide a safe haven for child molesters and other types of abusers with the attitude of he is respected in the community therefore he doesnt commit crimes and I also must respect him. If parents pull their children out of TT this will send a message to other yeshivas that parents will not tolerate any sort of abuse and the Yeshiva is not the end all and be all. This will force yeshivas to be accountable for the behavior of the staff they employ. The bottom line is that these places are businesses and parents need to send a message that this is a free market. If you have an ice cream store and make an ice cream flavor I like - I will patronize your store, if you fail to provide me with the ice cream of my liking I will go to another store. In Brooklyn, yeshivas are a dime a dozen (even though they all complain that there is nowhere to send their kids) start holding them accountable and they will be forced to shape up. I come from a small town where there was one school and we had to make do with what we had as the years went by new schools opened and forced the "original" school to shape up. If yeshivas start seeing a mass exodus from TT, hopefully, they will see that it's in their best interest to keep their "patrons" happy, otherwise this will result in a loss of business. Only the parents have the power to do this but as long as they continue to blind themselves by "what other people might think" nothing will ever change and unfortunately will only claim more victims. For the parents who think Kolko in innocent or is an isolated incident are destined to become victims of their own ignorance.

If TT allowed this criminal activity to go on for nearly forty years I wonder what other criminal activity they permitted over the past four decades. A thorough criminal investigation should be executed on this institution and I am certain that there will be more criminal defendants. This too should set precedent for yeshivas who engage in criminal activity that they can not hide behind the innocent cloak of religion. If you break the law you need to be held accountable, no matter how ling your beard and how black your hat.

Locks for Peyot?

Everyone has heard of Locks of Love. Locks of Love provides wigs for children who suffer from cancer and hair loss due to chemo. I had a student who had her Bat-Mitzvah at a beauty salon and the girls got manicures, pedicures and haircuts and all their hair was donated to Locks of Love. My sister just told me that there is an organization (I am still trying to find the name of it) who collects hair to make peyot to attach to a yarmulka for hasidic boys who lost hair due to cancer. If I recall, if you don't have hair, you don't need to have peyot. I assume the purpose of this is to make the kids suffering with cancer "fit in" with their friends who have the long peyot. In many hasidic sects the men shave their heads and just leave the peyot. I guess this is not so far off since the cancer victims look the same because they are all bald - I guess just adding peyot to the yarmulkas solve the problem. Very innovative. The phrase "necessity is the mother of invention" rings true here.

So 2007 began yesterday. I am kind of over all the New Years hoopla. It is another reason to throw a party and get a bit tipsy (or wasted!), I think as you get older you tend to see your life speed by. Each year goes by faster than the year before. I mean, wasn't Y2K just yesterday??!! New Years is just a day for people to "freak out" about another year that flew by and to make useless resolutions that they are not going to keep in the coming year.

But here are some things we can look forward to this year:
1. another presidential candidate showdown (it'll be another Hilary v Rudy - Obama will be Hil's VP)
2. more violence in Iraq (see my solution to that situation below)
3. More troops going to Iraq (God Bless and Protect them)
4. nasty campaign ads (ugh!)
5. tax hikes (NY is getting a gas tax hike - bec gas prices aren't high enough)

My predictions:
1. Castro will die this year
2. Israel will get their missing soldiers back in a body bag (I pray I am wrong on this one)
3. The UN will continue to Ignore Iran (what else is new?)
4. Israel (under different leadership) will take out Iran's nuke sites
5. The Box Office will see its lowest year ever (who goes to the movies anyways these days - the good ones aren't in the theatre)
and of course
6. Pat Robertson's prediction - which is not so far off but I don't think you need God to tell you in this day and age that there is going to be a terrorist attack, with the lack of brains some people have in this country I think another terror attack inevitable. (I kind of agreed with him on the whole Ariel Sharon's coma was retribution fron God for ethnic cleansing Gaza in 2005.)

"But he's such a nice guy"

A few days ago I had a conversation with someone I know, Mr. S. The topic was the sexual molestation allegations against Yehuda Kolko. Mr. S is Kolko's age and grew up with him in Boro Park. He was so livid about all the allegations against Kolko. He kept saying Kolko is the nicest guy I know, all these people just have personal vendettas against him. I asked Mr. S, who is not in any way part of the yeshiva community nor is affiliated with any of the institutions that Kolko is affiliated with, how he doesnt even have an inkling of doubt about Kolko, how forty years of allegations doesnt put an inkling of doubt of some misconduct. He refused to believe that Kolko had a bad bone in his body and that he is innocent because he is "such a nice guy." He adamantly maintains that all the allegations are false and that Kolko is the real victim.

It dawned on me that the reason Kolko was allowed to go nearly forty years molesting boys without getting "caught" was because people are so blinded by a nice word. Mr. S is not in any way shape or form part of Kolko's community but because he knew him as such a nice guy, who always had a nice thing to say to him, he is innocent. It's scary to think that if someone who is not part of Kolko's tight knit religious community can be blinded and not see the truth, how much more so are the people who are in Kolko's inner circle. Many people in Kolko's community revere him as a respected man and that there is no way that a person of such stature would ever abuse little boys. This must be a figment of the imagination of the accusers who are all out to get Kolko.

Here is where that little thing called common sense kicks in. There are some allegations that are so heinous that it should raise a red flag to anyone when someone is charged with this type of crime. There has to be cause for someone to be charged with a crime. Lots of time and effort is spent on investigating and obtaining an arrest warrant. Thus, it cant be that Kolko was sitting home eating cholent and minding his own business and he got arrested. He must have done something to warrant an arrest. If someone has child molestation allegations against them, it should raise a red flag, no matter how nice, religious, charitable etc the person is. People need to use common sense and realize that while Kolko may portray a nice persona to some people, he is a monster to others.

If I was married to someone and deeply in love with the person and allegations of child molestation arose, he would be out the door so fast, it's probably one of the only things I would get divorced over. Even if it's never proven. If you are really innocent, you don't put yourself into situations where allegations could even arise. I used to teach very hormonal 7th and 8th graders and the boys in the class always wanted to give me hugs. I had a policy that I did not touch the students, all the students and the other teachers knew that, further, I was never in a situation when I would be alone with a student. There are ways to keep yourself out of being falsely accused if you really are innocent.

Arrows

Only in NYC will there be arrows painted on the steps in subway stations indicating which side of the staircase is for going upstairs and which side is for going downstairs. I thought it was common sense that you always walk to your right, thus, this avoids any head on collisions with people walking in the opposite direction. I would not be surprised if they started implementing this on some sidewalks in NYC especially in Times Square. The east side should be for people traveling north and the west side should be for people traveling south. (I think getting rid of the picture takers in Times Square will also aleve some of the heavy human congestion) I remember when I used to bike in Brooklyn on Ocean Parkway there used to be (and prob still are) bike lanes for specified for the direction the biker was travelling.

Although I love NY some things should be left to common sense. If the saying is true "if you don't use it, you lose it," please let the people of NY use their common sense lest they lose it!

I saw Borat for the third time tonight. It is still funny the third time around! We were supposed to go to a comedy club but when my friend told me he hadnt seen Borat we went hunting to find a theater showing the film. I think its my new mission to have all my friends see Borat.

I don't usually agree with the Brits. But I definitely agree with this. I think the US could save a buck or two if our politicians flew commercial. Kudos to Tony Blair for taking his family on an commercial airline to a vacation destination. The US spends millions shuttling the president to and from various vacation spots. I think this is something the US should implement. I really dont like to see my hard earned cash going to waste. I can see it now, Bush sitting in first class and he has to hear "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome aboard American Airlines, please remain seated with your seatbelt fastened..." I wonder if the flight attendant will give him peanuts instead of pretzels.

Free Stuff

I just went to an electronics store in Brooklyn owned by a bunch of hasidic Jews to purchase a blow dryer. Believe it or not, they are very reasonably priced. The same product at Bed Bath and Beyond was twenty - five dollars more. When I came to the register to pay, the check out clerk told me that the blow dryer comes with a free curling iron. I told him that if I am blow drying my hair that means I want it straight, furthermore, I don't need a curling iron. He said, but its free. I said I dont need one and I already have one at home in FL. He was so adamant, he said just take it and then began to tell everyone in the store how I was refusing a free item. I even told the guy I was going to sell it on Ebay. I basically had to beg him to allow me just to pay and leave. At the exit, there is a man who checks your bag and receipt told me that it says I purchased two items and there is only one item in the bag. I told him the second item was a free curling iron which I didn't need. He said, but it's free and then began to tell the guy next to him - she isnt taking the free stuff. I said I dont need it. This story solidified the age old Jewish steroetype of Jews and free stuff. In my own little way I am trying to break that stereotype. If I dont need something, I dont want it even if its free! I am not a horder. I like having as little "stuff" as possible. I get rid of stuff I havent used in three months. Why do I need a second curling iron - I rarely use the one I have. I think I could have given them free bird poop, afterall, it is free!

On my way home a little boy of about 6 or 7 asked me to cross the street with him. He was so sweet. It reminded me of when I lived in Israel and all these little kids would always ask me to cross them. (efshar l'avor li et hakvish?) Oh, how I love the innocent trust young kids have in adults. It also makes me feel terribly old :(

Today I was running some errands in downtown Brooklyn when I stopped for lunch. There were a few people in front of me on line and listening to them for about five seconds I knew they were law students with out them even mentioning it. It seems like all law students everywhere talk about the same thing. How poor we are going to be when we finish, whose parents pay their way, how much loan money each person is taking out, what kinds of loans, what kinds of scholarships? I could have closed my eyes and it could have been me talking with my friends, it was so weird. I was kind of getting annoyed with them. Then I thought of all the times my friends and I are out and all we talk about is what a financial burden law school is. Furthermore, I realized that my friends and I are so consumed with law school that its all we talk about. It's like we cant even have normal conversations anymore. These students in the restaurant were probably on their vacation and all they were talking about was school; how pathetic! So, I have made a new resolution for the coming year after listening to these law students. No more talking about law school in public. It's time to join the rest of civilization and have normal conversations about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ;)

Ultra Orthodox Jews and Mullahs

A few days ago I watched a program on the Discovery Times channel called Execution in Iran. It told the story about 16 year old Attefah Rejabi, a young girl, hung in the town square in her home town of Nekah from a crane in 2004 for crimes against chastity. Her “crime” was that she was raped by a 52 year old married taxi driver who was a member of the “morality police.” In Iran if a girl is raped it means that she wasn’t dressed appropriately or that she had a little hair showing or that she was doing something that tempted the man and thus she deserved the rape. The men usually get off (no pun intended) since it was the girl who “forced” him to rape her. Several years ago human rights groups put pressure on the Iranian government not to execute minors when they are charged with any crime against morality. Attefah was arrested three times since she fourteen years old for this “crime” (arrested for being raped). On the fourth time she was arrested by the morality police brought before a judge who determined that she was a dangerous threat to Iran and he sentenced her to death by hanging. One of the discrepancies in Attefah’s case is that her trial and the appeals process all took place within a matter of days, a process that usually takes several months. The appellate court papers reflected Attefah’s age as being twenty – two when in reality she was sixteen. This mistake was brought before the judge; he ruled that she was twenty – two. After Attefah’s death, her father brought the judge her birth certificate and her death certificate to prove to him that Attefeh was only sixteen. The next day Attefah’s corpse was removed from the grave and was never returned. Attefah’s story has been a great source of contention amongst legal scholars in Iran and human rights groups around the world. The town of Nekah was forbidden from talking to anyone in the media about Attefah. Atafeh’s story is not unique in Iran. This documentary seemed eerily familiar to what goes on in some ultra – orthodox communities.

I remember when I lived in Israel there was something called the Vaad Hatzniut also known as the “modesty police.” These “police” go to teenage hotspots and spy on young girls and boys who may be “hanging out” or rat out girls who may not be dressed according to the strict religious customs of the long skirts, the big baggy shirts (lest she have a shape!) and thick tights. The “police” then report back either to the parents or to the school on what they had observed the young person doing. Usually this results in the expulsion of the child from school or harsh punishments rendered by the parents. My friend told me that a girl in her class was once called into the principal’s office and a man who looked like a typical secular Israeli was sitting in the office. He told the principal, I saw her at this place on that night and the next night she was there with so and so, etc. Of course the girl was punished. The school couldn’t send out their own people to spy on their students because they would stick out like sore thumbs, so they hire secular Israelis to do the spying for them. (I think this girl who was called into the principal’s office was from a well-known family, if I recall correctly she got pregnant when she was sixteen, she disappeared for a few months and when she returned there was no baby and no pregnancy. I think today she is divorced with a child and is heavily addicted to heroin or cocaine, I am unsure of the drug – so much good the spying did for her).

“Modesty” is of the utmost importance in these communities. The women wear thick tights even in the hot summer months. The skirts have to flow way past the knee (but not to the ankle – that is too trendy) and the shirts must be at least two sizes too big. Furthermore, if a woman is dressed “inappropriately” (not according to their strict standards) they are usually verbally harassed and in some cases even physically harassed with bleach thrown on their clothes. In these communities men and women never ever have any physical contact until the night of the wedding. Some city busses in Jerusalem are separate, one for men and one for women. Lest the men be tempted. For a community who stresses so much modesty one would imagine that since they strive to be pure on the outside this would be reflective in their character. This is not so. I just read this about a fifty year old woman who was attacked on a bus on the way to the Western Wall because she wouldn’t move to the back of the bus. After reading that and after reading about the despicable Neturei Karta taking part in the holocaust conference in Iran last week it makes me wonder if ideologically, there are any differences between the two groups. In reality there are only slight diffences in a tactical sense. The ultra Orthodox do not use suicide bombers to promote their ideology.

It seems that these ultra orthodox fanatics will not be content unless Israel is a theocracy and all of Israel abides by their strict laws and customs. This almost mirrors the theocracy in Iran. Iran seeks to dominate the world one day and in turn impose sharia law on the civilized people of the Earth. In both of these groups the means, no matter how deplorable they may be, justify the ends – a world dominated by religious law. It makes me think that there are not too many differences between religious fanatics, whatever religion they may be. Extremes in any spectrum are dangerous, be it political or religious. I find it hard to believe that wearing a longer skirt or thicker tights made anyone a better person. If a person does not have strong moral character, their long skirts or long beards will not give them character; as we see from the fanatics in Iran who execute a sixteen year old rape victim or the haredi nut jobs who beat a fifty year old women on a city bus. In this day and age our society needs people of strong moral character and moral clarity. Enough wars have been fought based on religious fanaticism and it has gotten us, in essence, nowhere.

This came out a few weeks ago. As I stated earlier male birth control will not work. Men simply will not be as diligent in taking it as women. Men have less to lose. Even though there are no strict time schedules for men. They can take the "pill" two hours before having sex. This is more feasible for someone who is in a relationship because they know sex (usually) comes with the territory. However, for single men on the prowl, where sex is not a sure thing, they most likely will not take a pill before going out on the assumption they are going to have sex that night. (They prob think it will be a jinx!) It wont work. Ladies, hang on to your calendars and keep your alarms buzzing, it will be a long time before there will be an effect birth control pill for men. For now the most effective contraceptive for men is still the good ol' condom.

Posters in the Library

I study in the microforms room in the library. The room is decorated with posters of various UN activities. There is one poster which is from the "World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance," that was held in Durban, South Africa in August of 2001. Anyone who knew how to read at the time knows what transpired at that event. It turned into an anti-Semitic - Israel bashing hatefest. The US and Israel ended up withdrawing from the conference. So, I sit in this room everyday and think if I should say something to the dean about the poster. After all they would never hang a poster from a Klan rally on the wall. Yesterday, it was kind of bugging me and I needed a study break so I sent the dean this email:

Dear Dean B,

I study in the microforms room in the basement. It seems that all the posters in the room have a UN theme; which I have no problem with. However, there is one poster from the UN World Conference against Racism (racial discrimination, Xenophobia, and Racial Intolerance) in Durban South Africa which hangs on the north wall that I do have a problem with. I don't know if you are familiar with what happened at that conference; but it turned into an anti Semitic hatefest where the theme of much of the conference was "Zionism is Racism." At the time this was deemed the modern day Wannsee Conference; as copies of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion were sold at the conference. Fliers circulated the conference depicting Hitler with the question of "What if I had won?" The United States withdrew from the conference because of the organizers failure to stop the anti-Semitic tone of the conference.

I think having that poster in the library (even though it's only in the microforms room) shows ignorance that the Law Center would promote a conference that spewed hate and bigotry. A holocaust survivor once said "the road to Auschwitz was paved with apathy." I think the ignorance on the library's behalf to hang this poster is disconcerting to me as a Jew. I assume that if a poster is hung on a wall in the law school; the law school believes that it has an important message to relay. I believe that it is the law school's responsibility be informed and follow up when publicizing conferences such as these to insure that the conference served the stated purpose.

I am alerting the librarians involved in the selection to your unhappiness with the selection, and we will get back to you.

She obviously missed the point it doesn't matter where the posters came from. It matters that the law school was ignorant enough to put them on their walls.

I am in the microforms room now and about five minutes ago a librarian came in the room, took the poster off the wall and walked out. I was utterly impressed. I will wait until Monday to send a thank you letter to the dean, as I want to make surdoesn'tposter doesnt pop up on any other walls around here.

Record Breaking Weather

I can't get over this great weather we've been having. This is something of a phenomena that the weather in Brooklyn is only ten degrees less than it is here in FLL. It is usually 30 - 40 degrees warmer in FLL at this time of year. On the news they keep talking about all this record breaking weather; so much for global warming! I think if I were living in NY I would be annoyed at this weather because I know that it only gets colder from here on. In FLL you cherish 40 degree weather because you know it's going to be in the 80's by next week.

I don't know very many people on the planet who do not want world peace. (Except the terrorists- in my book they are not people). I don't really understand how having "Global Orgasm Day" will bring world peace. I think they need to have this day in Iran and throughout the Muslim nations of the world. They are the ones who need to clear their minds and think of something else besides killing. As I have said before, my solution for the War on Terror is dropping the mini bottles of alcohol attached to a playboy and these wild beasts will find other things to do with their time, rather than plotting terror attacks. Hey, who knows maybe "World Orgasm Day" will be a hit in Iran? I guess it's worth the try, it definitely can't hurt.

The Return of the Silicone

After reading this I really don't know why any woman (or man - if that's how you swing!) would ever want to get breast implants. Most women get implants because they are insecure about their current size. I believe that most people who get implants are emotionally insecure and lack self esteem and self worth. (I know I am a little harsh, but it's prob the truth) I know many women with breast implants. They are no more secure about themselves today than they were before the implants. It's clear that the implants are not the "magical little blue pill." Self esteem and confidence doesn't come from silicone breasts. One has to be secure about themselves INSIDE and then and only then will they be secure enough to not care about the size of their breasts. I am not saying that people don't feel better about themselves when they change their appearances. People who lose weight usually feel better about themselves because they look better. However, people usually lose weight, lose it for themselves. Most women get implants because they believe that they will be more attractive to men. These girls don't realize that if there is no "substance" underneath those new boobs, the men will lose their attraction quite quickly. Now we have the new and improved "boob," breast augmentations are going to surge. To my fellow women out there I say to you one thing - beauty and self confidence comes from within. You can have all the plastic surgery in order to make yourself look like Catherine Zeta Jones, but if you have no inner beauty, your outer beauty is worthless.

Great Weather!!!

We have been having such amazing weather lately. I really dont want to jinx it, but it seems like its gonna stick around for a few days. YAY! It's 54 degrees tonight and for Floridians its basically a blizzard. They really dont know how to deal with nice weather here. This is the perfect weather to be outside on my patio with a good book wrapped in a comfy blanket. Of course I will not be able to enjoy this stunning weather as I have to study for finals. Law books are not the type of books you cozy up with. :( Well the good news is that 3 weeks from today I will be on winter break!!!! Hopefully, I will be able to enjoy this delicious weather then.

BTW, I saw Thank You for Smoking, it was pretty good. Great movie for all you criminal defense attorneys out there. The main character is a lobbyist for the tobacco industry. He is a brilliant spinmeister who represents a company that is still trying to find the link between smoking and lung cancer. It's quite entertianing. It's only an hour and a half and worth the time.

I have wanted to see the movie Thank You for Smoking for a long time but never got a chance to see it. Now that I have 700+ plus channels of Direct TV I decided to look on the online TV guide to see if they were going to show it on one of my many channels. It wasn't listed on any of the free channels, but it was showing on pay per view. I remember when I signed up for Direct TV part of my package was one free PPV per month. I have not utilized any of my PPV yet, so I decided to order the movie for my last hurrah before I go into pre-finals hibernation. Of course the usual method is to order the movie off the remote, this only works if you have a landline. I went online and I saw I could order the movie online or over the phone. However, online there was no place for me to utilize my free PPV. So I called Direct TV and after waiting 47 minutes on hold someone finally told me that there was no such deal listed on my account so he transferred me to an "account reviewing specialist." After giving this "specialist" the legal jargon rundown about how Direct has materially misrepresented their plans and I "relied to my detriment"...blah blah.... poor law student...and after talking to her about finals, loans and my dad (and another 30 mins of my precious time) she told me that she felt so bad about what I had to go through with Direct TV and she will give me one showing of Thank You for Smoking for free. At 8pm I set my DVD recorder (as I really needed to study some Con Law) to tape my ONE free showing of the movie. 8pm arrives and the movie starts, so far so good, but in the corner of the screen there is a blue notice box that says "to order this movie please press 732..." I figured it’s a free movie; I could deal with the blue box in the corner. Shortly after the movie began, I turned off the TV so I could study. (My DVD recorder records with the TV off). After about an hour and in desperate need for a break from the "overbreadth doctrine" I turned on the TV and much to my dismay, the movie was gone, the TV screen saver was running. I was pissed. I couldn’t believe I spent all that time on the phone to finagle (sp?) a free movie only for it to be taken from me in an instant. I would have just gone to Blockbuster and spent the five bucks. Or even easier just to pay the $3.99 on directtv.com. But once I saw it was on PPV, I was on a mission to get my free movie. I should have known that nothing is really free. All the time and effort that went into getting this “free” movie was completely not worth it. Right now my DVD recorder is taping the Thank You for Smoking; which I purchased online!!! Thanks for nothing Direct TV!

Corporate Lessons

Just in time for my corporations final. I just thought I would share some important corporate lessons that were left out of the Curriculum this semester! (Thanks, S)

Corporate Lesson 1:
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.
The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.
When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel,"
After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.
After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.
When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"
"It was Bob the next door neighbour," she replies.
"Great!" the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes
me?"
Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to
credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position
to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2:
A priest offered a lift to a Nun.
She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.
The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"
The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.
The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"
The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."
Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way.
On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129.
It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."
Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might
miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson 3:
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.
They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."
"Me first! Me first!" says the admin. clerk.
"I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone.
"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone.
"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."
Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 4:
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day.
A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"
The crow answered: "Sure, why not."
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.
A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting
very high up.

Corporate Lesson 5:
A turkey was chatting with a bull.
"I would love to be able to Get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.
The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.
Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Moral of the story: Bullshìt might get you to the top, but it won't keep
you there

Professor Gutsy

Tonight one of my professor's was very gutsy. Some smart ass made a snide comment about what happened last Tuesday (the election results). The professor asked him if he was referring to al-Quaida's defeat of the Republicans in Washington. Of course there were the typical "boos" but the cheers definitely drowned them out. I really didn't care about the election results or the election or politics in general these days. I just can't stand gloaters. Yay, you won. But they really didnt really win as much as the republicans lost. It was an easy win because the opposition was basically non existent.

To add insult to injury to the moping libs in the class he called on a particular student A to answer a question and someone said that A had gone to hear the president of the ACLU speak. She was giving a lecture in the law school. The professor then said "I have a list of questions that I sent with Mr. B to ask the ACLU, I hope they answer truthfully." A returned from the ACLU speech and as he sits down the professor gives him the Stalin salute. It was pretty funny. I love professors who are not PC. He is definitely a rare find in academia and even more rare in law school. A few of my friends have joked that he is the "affirmative action" professor here because he is the only right thinking professor in the entire faculty.

Dumbasses v. Borat

After I saw Borat (the best movie ever!) I knew it was only a matter of days before the lawsuits would start flowing. The movie is about Borat's travels through the US and A and he exposes the reality of peoples true feelings about Jews, racism and other 'sensitive' topics.

There is a scene where Borat is on an RV with a bunch of frat boys and they are all quite drunk. The boys are saying derogatory statements about Jews,women and blacks (much of which is pretty funny). Now that the movie has been released and their immature behavior was publicized for the world to see, they are suing Borat and Fox for humiliation and embarrassment etc. I hope this suit is dismissed as a frivolous lawsuit because they are adults and it's only because their shameful behavior became public that they are bringing suit. The law does not provide a remedy for stupidity! They claim that they were told that the movie would not be shown in the US. Does it make a difference where the film is shown? These kids were acting like a bunch of idiotic frat boys - period! Now, they probably have careers and scholarships on the line - so all of the sudden they care. They should have not said anything that they were going to be ashamed of. There is something called personal responsibility. These kids need to take responsibility for the words that came out of their mouths and not blame it on alcohol or misinformation from Borat.

The whole point of Borat is to expose fools like these boys. This was a great social experiment and I hope and pray the legal system won't f**k it up for Borat or any other geniuses who have other such projects.

The World Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem has been cancelled. I predicted this weeks ago (see below!) Due to recent threats by Hamas to retaliate for the Beit Hanoun incident and an increase in Haredi protests around the country. The SPONSORS of the parade have decided to throw in the towel and hold a rally in a stadium instead. This was inevitable. Aside from the nature of the location, the holiest place on Earth for the major religions of the planet, it is also a hotbed for religious fanaticism. I can't imagine that a gay parade would ever be held alongside a biker rally in the South - it just wouldn't happen.

I am happy my prediction came to fruition. Although I am no fan of the Haredi community I do think that people need to respect each other - even if they don't respect you. The Haredi's have very little respect for anyone that is not like them. However, this is not a reason to do things to spite them. The gay mafia could have held the parade anywhere in the world and they chose Jerusalem knowing that most of the residents believe in Leviticus 18:22 that homosexuality is an abomination before God and the Haredi's are a bunch of hot headed folks. The intent of this parade was willful, malicious and reckless. The organizers knew that this would wreak havoc on the streets of Jerusalem, yet, they felt that there was no other city that they could hold the parade. (Does San Fran or Tel Aviv ring a bell??) They knew the consequences of a gay parade in Jerusalem would have. They did this to spite the religious community. Thus, the organizers of this parade should be charged criminally for inciting a riot, nuisance and breach of the peace. Any and all costs that the city of Jerusalem has incurred from dealing with the Haredi mobs should be paid for by the organizers of the parade. One may suggest that the City should have to swallow the costs because they allowed it but as much you don't want to admit it - Israel is a democracy... blah blah blah...

I do not condone the acts of the religious zealots in Jerusalem, but this is what I expect from them. I definitely do not condone the parade - I expect even less from them. Is there no common sense left in Jerusalem? Bottom line is that this parade nonsense should have been stopped at its inception. Both groups are irrational and do things to spite those who are not like them or do not accept their way of life. There is no rationalizing with irrational people.

Great Invention If Used on Human Bombs As Well...

Israel developed a great bomb diffusing system using laser to detonate roadside bombs. The Thor system can be used in day or night to detect roadside bombs and then diffuse them. Using this in Iraq will hopefully change the direction of the war if we use it on homicide bombers. I am not sure of the range or it can be used by remote control. What a great invention to fight this war on terror. This would only be effective if it is used on human bombs. It will only be effective when we determine that some human life is not sacred when there is a bomb strapped on it. Hopefully, this can replace soldiers risking their lives going door to door searching for the scum Islamo - Nazis and their explosives.

Male Birth Control - A Useless Invention

This caught my eye today. I do not understand why scientists waste their time researching a birth control pill for men. It won't work. Female birth control is very time sensitive and must be taken at around the same time everyday. Most women are very diligent about taking their birth control because they have a lot at stake and the odds are against them if they are lax about it. Although the male version might not be as time sensitive, men have little to lose (except 20% of their paycheck in some jurisdictions). In many cases a man can father a child and be totally unaware of the existence of his offspring. I can not imagine that men will want to take a pill everyday which most certainly will have ample side effects. Furthermore, there will be some (dumb) women out there who will rely on the men's diligence in taking the pill that they will neglect their own. Doctors already have a method in enabling male infertility - it's called a vasectomy. I say let the scientists find a cure for cancer and leave the birthcontrolling up to the women.

I am predicting that if a male birth control pill hits the market the birth rate in this country is going to spike.

Making a Prediction

November 10th will be the World Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem. Since this is "take three" for this event I am making a prediction that something is going to happen on or before that date. The parade was initially scheduled for August of 2005, but the police felt that they would be stretched too thin between the ethnic cleansing of the Jews from Gaza and dealing with the homos in Jerusalem. It was then rescheduled for this summer, however, due to the War in Lebanon, the parade was postponed until November 10. Thus, my prediction is that the Power that Be does not want the promiscuity running amok on the holy streets of Jerusalem. Ergo my prediction that something will happen around November 10th!

Losing Weight

I wonder if this really works. The debates in the health field are constant if sex really helps you loose weight. I am sure most people would rather have sex than jump on the treadmill. Yet, why are we all still so fat. Every other month another study comes out about how fat Amercians are. I guess we are just not having enough sex! So, for the past week or so I was debating whether I should write on this subject or not. On one hand I don’t want to give these freaks another platform to spew their propaganda but on the other hand I am just sick and tired of hearing about it. Ok, let me back up.

Last Monday we got an email from the school telling us to go to this “minority” picnic sponsored by a prominent law firm in South Florida. This is what the email stated: “All minority students should take advantage of this opportunity, so I hope you will please spread the word to all black, Hispanic, women, Asian and students with disabilities, as well as any other minorities you can identify at (insert name of Law School here). Mind you, when the military has a recruiter anywhere on the 300+ acre campus, the law school hangs an enormous banner as well as large posters around the school stating that the law school doesn’t promote or endorse any employer who discriminates on the basis of race, religion and sexual orientation. (I need to find a document with the actual text, it’s really despicable). This is all based on the military’s don’t ask, don’t tell policy. Yet, they are promoting this minority picnic, which clearly discriminates against white males. Oh right, its not discrimination when white males are excluded because they had it good enough all these years. Hello??? This is South Florida; white males are the minority here.

Then there was Tuesday there was a table set up in school by the gay mafia all about the military’s policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” So of course I went to the table and told the fella's a few things that were on my mind. Number one “you lose credibility if you misrepresent the opposing party,” the policy is Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Don’t Pursue. Of course that would ruin their bias and their argument. The second thing I told them is that if they aren’t going to join the military, why do they care whether or not gays can be flaming in the military or not. After all, there are many Sabbath observing Jews who will not work for a company who is not flexible in allowing their employees go home before sundown on Friday. If this is the case at a particular company, a Sabbath observor simply would not work there. Yet, it is rare that you see boycotts of those companies by Jewish groups. You don’t work in an environment that doesn’t suit your needs and comfort level. If you are a flame, don’t join the military. End of story! The third issue I pointed out to them is that the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy is for THEIR OWN protection. Since most of the country, especially those who serve in the military are men and women of faith who believe in God and believe in the passage in Leviticus 18:22: “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” Just as strongly the gay mafia believes in their message. The people of faith serving this country believe that God deems homosexuality as an abomination. Yet, it is only “insensitive” or “intolerant” for the military personnel to show any sort of ambivalence with homosexuals serving with them and completely permissible for the homosexual community to belittle and undermine the beliefs of the religious community (see Rosie O’Donnell’s 9/11 rant on The View).

On Wednesday I was informed that it was National Coming Out Day. Try as I might I could not find it on the U.N.’s calendar of all holidays under the sun. Thus, another email was sent out to all the students: “Lambda Law Society celebrates: National Coming Out Day! Today, October 11th Since 1987, October 11 has been National Coming Out Day, a day to promote awareness of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community. But Coming Out is not just an emotional process for the person coming out. It also affects those close to them. So for the first time in the history of National Coming Out Day, the Human Rights Campaign is offering the straight community a downloadable guide to Coming Out:"The guide walks people through the emotional spectrum that people typically feel after someone comes out to them, outlines myths and facts about GLBT people, and gives easy ways for straight people to learn more and demonstrate their support for GLBT Americans."” Do heterosexual's have "coming out" day? Or "coming in" day? Or any day?

On Friday, I received this email: Lambda Law Society, presents our October Social! Friday, October 13th, from 7:30 to 9:30 At the home of Prof. (name of professor)Drop by for a selection of adult and light beverages, as well as hors d'oeuvres. Again, I don’t subscribe to this organization. I have no interest in it. Keep my mailbox clean of this junk.

Obviously he wanted to present the RIGHT side of the issue; promoting family values etc. This was the response by the professor: I believe that this event it open to the entire law school community, but remember that the organization says: Lambda Law Society is open to all members of the Law Center who embrace the ideals of human and civil equality for the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgendered community. This is discriminatory on its face and subject to strict scrutiny! There are always lectures at school that people attend even if they don’t “embrace” the ideology of the speaker. Cleary, they know that their argument of “family values” is a weak one and they know they won’t be able to handle opposition because they don’t have a leg to stand on. Another proof of the gay hypocrisy; only those that agree with them are welcome. Yet, if we were to have Heterosexual Law Society, Heterosexual Pride Parade, Heterosexual Pride Day etc., the gays would be up in arms; screaming and yelling discrimination. Oh right its only discrimination if it’s against them but not against us.

I am sick and tired of this. In Lawrence v. Texas the Court in essence held that the government doesn’t belong in our bedrooms. A motto supported by the gay community. Yet, once again they are hypocrites because they want the government to give them marriage licenses. I have one thing to say, if you don’t want the government in your bedroom, don’t bring your bedroom into government (the streets). The day we have a heterosexual pride parade/ day/ law society, will be the day I won’t mind that the homos want to have their slew of events. Fair is fair? Isn’t it about equality? Isn’t their claim “if they can marry, we should be allowed to marry…” So I say if they can march, we can march…

Where Is My Party?

I think it’s high time we have a REAL third party. The two party system was great when there were actually differences between the two parties. Now we have one party that’s for high taxes and the other is for higher taxes. One party claims they have a plan for Iraq, although its not working that well. The other party claims to have a plan for Iraq, but hasn’t told anybody what it is yet. Both parties are riddled with scandals and cover ups and cover ups of the cover ups. While the Republican Party was once a party who claimed virtue and family values it has now become the party of corruption and shame and thus no different than their counterparts on the other side of the isle. Thus, in essence there really is only one party.

Hence, it is time for the lazy Libertarians to come out of hiding and take advantage of this chaos and get organized. If there was an active third party, it would prevent our representatives from becoming complacent. I think that the GOP has become too comfortable with their majority over the last number of years and feel they are invincible. It is time to show them that they represent the people and not vice versa.

The purpose of the government is to protect and defend this great country of ours. (See Article 1 § 8, United States Constitution). Since we are in a time of war and the most important issue of this era is keeping this country and our allies around the world safe from the Islamo – Nazis who wish to destroy us. They don’t care if we have gay marriage or not; if we abort unborn babies before they are born or not; if we believe in privatizing social security or not; if we believe in lower taxes or not; if we believe that the United States needs to build a wall on our southern border or not. They want to kill us if we vote red, blue or green.

Over the past few weeks the media has made us come to believe that the GOP has fallen apart at its core, which may or may not be the case. They have led the public to believe that a congressman having a sex chat with a sixteen year old boy is the worst catastrophe that this country has faced in decades. Whether the IM chats were a prank staged by the page or not, its over, he is gone. Next. Bob Ney admitted he is a crook and took bribes from Jack Abramoff. He was just taking a page out of Congressmen William Jefferson’s (D-La) handbook. (Jefferson is still in Congress) Ney probably had no more room in his freezer. Next. By the way, has Sandy Berger ever been punished for shoplifting at the National Archives? I think negative.

Thank god I still have somewhat of a thinking brain after spending all this time in law school (where moral relativity is the order of the day). I can ignore the media, I can ignore the scandals and I can ignore the corruption. I can’t ignore the nuclear bomb, I can’t ignore the suicide bombers, I can’t ignore bombs in pizzerias or discothèques, I can’t ignore the sound of mothers crying for their children who were murdered at the merciless hands of the Islamo – Nazis. Thus, my vote will go to the party, albeit a bit bedraggled right now, who at least claims to be strong in fighting this vicious enemy and take the fight to them. My vote will not go to the party who wants to take the enemy for Starbucks.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for these women?

When I read stories like this I ask myself, are women really that dumb/naïve/stupid? Everyone is entitled to make a mistake or two about choosing a mate. There are some things that are not obvious about the other person immediately, but by the time you marry someone you tend to figure out the basic 411 about your chosen spouse. Some of the basic info you may want to be somewhat well versed before the nuptials: what religion the spouse practices (if any), what kind of relationship the future spouse has with his family, even meeting a sibling or parent would be ideal; where the spouse lives – going to visit the spouse a couple of times in their own environment is optimal; how is your future spouse employed – make sure its not something vague like import/export. These are just the basics one should have some slight knowledge about before running to the alter. One may also want to look for red flags, such as a person who has a parole officer, someone who has a new job every two weeks, someone who is not allowed to have a credit card in his name or doesn’t have a checking account, someone who is uninsurable, someone with a full medicine cabinet and someone who has any kind of attorney on a retainer. All in all, even though our relationships don’t always end up as planned, most of us try to use some parts of our brain in choosing a mate.

These women use NO part of their brain. In an era where news travels faster than the speed of light, where any iota of information a person is seeking is at his fingertips in seconds there is no reason whatsoever why a Jewish girl from Ashdod married a Palestinian man from Tul Karem. No excuses, period! Maybe 25-30 years ago, I can see where one could have been misled. But nowadays? Nowadays, when the stories about how women are treated in the Islamic culture, especially in the PA controlled areas are almost headlines worldwide, they are subjects of UN resolutions. How an Israeli girl can marry a married Palestinian is beyond me.

Tell me I am too harsh, unsympathetic and heartless. I don’t care. If someone doesn’t care about themselves, why should I care about them! If she didn’t have the common sense to find out the basics – like the fact HE WAS A MUSLIM, or he WAS MARRIED is not my problem. I don’t care about how poor and ignorant she was or that it was love at first sight. There are just some basic things you find out about a person before you committing your life to them. If she couldn’t do it for herself, why should people risk their lives getting her out of her self made disaster? As the saying goes don’t get yourself into shit, if you can’t get yourself out of it.

So, again I ask, do I need to feel sorry for these women?

Columbia's Freedom of Speech 101

On Wednesday, the College Republicans at Columbia University (who knew they existed!) hosted the Jim Gilchrist founder of the Minutemen Project to address the students at Columbia about their work securing our southern border with Mexico. Moments after the after he began speaking, a group of students bolted onto the stage with banners stating “Say No to Racism” and other such hyperbole (some of which were in Arabic).Tonight on Hannity and Colmes, two of the students who barged onto the stage were interviewed, besides for being obnoxious and disrespectful to both Hannity and Colmes, they completely exposed Columbia University for who they really are (not that it is a secret). One would think that after Edward Said and Columbia Unbecoming and now this fiasco, Columbia would attempt to instill a positive image of the University to the public. The students on H&C tonight were complete and utter fools. They admitted that Freedom of Speech and open debate on controversial issues are vital for society, especially on college campuses. These dumb fools lost any credibility for themselves when they started to justify their barging on stage which brought the event to a close. Furthermore, in their squeaky voices they kept saying to H&C “Are you going to let us speak about the horrors going on at the border or are you going to keep cutting us off,” does anyone say payback??? I have to say one thing to these bitches; don’t dish it, if you can’t take it. It was okay to stop someone else from speaking but not okay when someone wanted to stop them from speaking. Columbia has enough to be ashamed of and now they have two more reasons.This was gross negligence on the part of Columbia not to provide extra security for this event. Columbia knew quite well that this was going to hit a raw nerve with some people. After the attacks of Ann Coulter , David Horowitz and Bill Kristol on college campuses, NOTHING should have been permitted in that auditorium. (When Supreme Court Justice John Stevens spoke at my law school, we were not allowed to have even a pen in the auditorium.) Columbia's still reeling from Columbia Unbecoming wants to publicize a new and imporoved image of tolerance of opposing viewpoints, but doesn’t really want to practice it. Once again, Columbia University fails Freedom of Speech 101.

PS. Columbia only gets away with this because they are a private school. If this would be a public university the lawsuits against them would be endless and they would lose every single one of them.

We sure have! Five years ago today, the world stood still - for a moment. Five years after Islamo-Nazis murdered nearly 3,000 innocent people, it seems like we have forgotten. It's been five years since 19 MUSLIMS threw planes into buildings wreaking havoc across the civilized world. In the past five years Islamo - Nazis have been responsible for over 5,000 terror attacks worldwide. Be it in Bali or Beslan, London or Madrid, Jerusalem or LAX (yes, that was a terror attack!), these Islamo Nazis want to kill. This is all they know, they have been doing it for the last 1,000 + years and they will do it for a thousand more. The reasons why they kill are irrelevant - the fact that they murder innocent children on their first day of school; or blow up families in pizzeria's - leaving children with out parents and parents without children, is reason enough to wipe these people from the face of the planet. If someone comes into you home and kills your children - you dont ask them to sit down for some coffee and discuss the reasons he murdered your children - you shoot him in the head and be done with him.

That being said, we have forgotten. We forgot -when we didnt identify the real enemy and call them what they are: Islamo - Nazis. We forgot - when we didnt racial profile on airplanes, trains, malls et al. We forgot - when we had "peace" talks with them. We forget -when we don't let mothers bring apple juice on the airplane for their children; for the apple juice is the real enemy. We forgot - when we forgot about Ehud, Eldad and Gilad and did not finish the job in destroying the Hezbozos. We forgot- when scum like these were able to march in the streets of London, instead of being rounded up and executed (like they would have been had this been 1944).
We forgot - when we ethnically cleansed Gaza of the Jews; turning it into a Hamas terror training camp. We forgot - when we embedded journalists with the troops in Iraq. We forgot - when we prosecute heros such as Ilario Pantano. We forget every time an act of terror is committed by an individual of Islamic faith and because he has no ties to an "organized" terror group - it's not recognized as terrorism. (see San Fransisco Rampage; Seattle Jewish Center; Shooting at LAX).

I have not forgotten - I will never forget. I will never forget seeing blood and guts strewn on the streets and sidewalks in Jerusalem. I will never forget the stench of burning flesh that burned for 100 days after 9/11. Most of all - I will never forget who my real enemy is - not the hair gel, not the 85 year old gramma, not the tweezer nor the razor, my enemy is your enemy - the human scum of the earth the Islamo Nazis. We can not fight our enemy, if we can not identify our enemy.

Don't Forget Ehud and Eldad

This morning in Israel the "ceasefire" went into effect per United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. Not one word in the resolution mentioned the immediate release of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, the two IDF soldiers who were kidnapped on July 12 by Hezbollah. The kidnapping of these two soldiers is the reason why Israel mounted this offensive against Hezbollah. The purpose of this war was primarily to bring these two soldiers home and destroy Hezbollah. The latter obviously did not come to fruition; but how about the soldiers? Why aren't they mentioned anywhere in 1701, and it mentions the release of Lebonese prisoners detained in Israel (see PP4) - yet it is silent on the return of Eldad and Ehud.

We know the ineptness of the UN. They are void of any moral clarity. Only when it comes to Israel does the UN see a moral equivalence between victim and aggressor. The cause of this latest conflict was the kidnapping of the two soldiers. Only upon thier release should we begin discussing a "ceasefire."

The fact that Eldad and Ehud were no where mentioned in the resolution makes me wonder if the whole world has lost thier sense of moral clarity? If we have forgotten our mission, than what was the purpose in the mission to begin with. I hope all those soldiers who were killed in this conflict; thinking that their mission was one of rescue - did not die in vain.

Olmert, do not forget Eldad and Ehud, you said they were your sons and promised you would bring them home. Do not renege on your promise. Bring these boys home.
